Skoldpadda was slightly relieved when the pair had finally reached the shore, his muscles relaxed, his tired body not aching in protest anymore. That had worn him out some, he wasn't used to such vigorous physical activity unless he was out hunting, and even that didn't seem to be as much of a daunting task as paddling against the current. He chuckled lightly at the thought, copper ringed eyed following Cheyenne's movements as she laid down against the sandy ground. He figured he could probably do that same, just flake out against the warm ground to dry off. He was surprised at just how tired that little race had made him. A yawn cracked at his muzzle with the realization, his tongue curling as his mouth opened wide, a large inhale of air being sucked into his lungs and then released quickly in suit. His jaws shut with a small crack, his tongue running across the ridges of his muzzle and a slightly sheepish look crossed his features.
How could he possibly be more tired than Cheyenne after that? He chuckled at himself, this little dame was just full of surprises. She'd out swam him at a race, and she didn't even seem half as phased as he was. He shook his head gently, clearly bemused. He'd landed the gentle nip at Cheyenne's ear, and he couldn't help but bubble in laughter at the unexpected yip of surprise which sounded from her muzzle. His smile lit up his face again, golden eyes resting on her face with a sort of gentleness that almost looked odd on his large, brawny self. He'd been too focused in on her features to notice the slight movement of her paw, and he felt it come in contact with his upper leg, just below where it connected with his chest. He started, his leg jerking forward slightly as it was caught off by her playful swat. His eyes widened a fraction in surprise, and he was quickly swept away into another light jumble of laughter.
Following her demonstration, Skoldpadda let the front half of his body collapse onto the sandy ground, an amused expression falling over his face as Cheyenne rolled onto her side. Her words came to him clearly, and his smile brightened, chuckling to himself and his constant wave of flattery. "I know, I know," He muttered happily, the mischievous glamour still hidden in his eyes. "I don't think you'd look quite the same without that pretty little head of yours." He joked, smiling at her before he turned his attention to the sand which was clinging at the damp fur by his paws. He let his tongue slip past his muzzle, and begin licking at the damp fur on his legs. It seemed to dry the fur there faster, his tongue collecting the majority of the loose water which had pooled there. He felt kind of funny going about grooming himself in the presence of the female, but he shook it off, it was drying him off faster.
He returned his attention to the female after a few repeated licks at his legs, and he scooted his form closer to hers, seemingly unhappy with the distance between them. Once he was back within range of pestering her, Skoldpadda let his muzzle rest gingerly at the point just above and between her two chocolatey brown eyes. He didn't know what was making him do it, he was having many spontaneous actions when he was in her presence which he just couldn't seem to control. He let his tongue slip past his jaws again, and let it run over her brow quickly, a foolish grin returning to it's rightful place on his maw. He folded his forepaws before him, and laid his chin down on top of them, his muzzle resting just beside Cheyenne's. His copper ringed eyes were fixed on her dainty little muzzle now, and her chocolate brown eyes only seemed more welcoming and more full of depth at this proximity. He just couldn't believe everything that had happened that day. He couldn't think of a time where he'd ever had a day go this smoothly before, a day where he'd been so happy. A content smile warmed his features, his copper pelt retaining some of the heat from the sun now, warming his chilled body. This day was perfect, and he couldn't have imagined it going any other way.
He let his eyes fall closed momentarily, a small sigh escaping his muzzle. His thoughts trailed back a bit, over the day which seemed to be running by too quickly. He opened his eyes, casting them up toward the sunny blue sky. The day would soon be over, they probably only had a few hours of sunlight left, maybe not even. Dusk was fast approaching, and Skoldpadda couldn't help but feel a small twang of saddness. He didn't want the day to end so quickly. It had gone by too fast in Cheyenne's company. He sighed again, bringing his gaze down to rest on Chey again. He wondered what was wandering through her mind. Were her thoughts returning to Dante? Would she be comparing them? He hoped not, but at the same time he was intrigued by the thought. Maybe he would come out on top? He didn't know. He had never met this other wolf in his life, he couldn't have an opinion one way or the other.
notes; ugh, still crap.

Her breaths were even and swift, her body finally able to relax after their race as she laid there on the sand. Her muscles slowly loosened, her body sinking into the ground and the sand began to wedge its way further in between the hairs of her fur, only to be removed later on by a bath. She didn’t mind all too much, and her eyes focused on Skoldpadda, her long bushy tail flickering out of habit behind her and wrapping around her body. Her own smile appeared again when she heard him yawn, and soon that smile morphed into a smirk; so she had made him tiered after all. She was actually quite surprised, but bit down on her tongue from retorting; the silence between them was too precious at the moment. They hadn’t spoken in a while, but the smiles and laughs were enough to fill her head with thoughts, and she liked it this way for now. As his yawn came to a finish, she found her own coming into existence. Didn’t they always say yawns were contagious? Maybe that saying was true. She returned his sheepish look with a slight shrug of her shoulders, her yawn dying down into oblivion, until the duo was left in sweet silence once again.
She shook her head, but her gaze didn’t waver and remained direction to him, light and sweet as a small grin remained plastered across her face, threatening to come bright and bubbly like earlier. She couldn’t hold it back much longer, and after she felt her paw come into contact with his limb and watch as it jerked and wobbled slightly, she let it show, wide and pure. A giggle was soon to follow and she inhaled deeply to stop it, eyes finally wandering away to the sky above her. The clouds swayed in the breeze and gently moved across the blue canvas, the sun starting to lower in the distance, warning them that evening was soon to come. Had they really spent all that time together? It was almost incredible, and Cheyenne seemed to blink at the realization. However, like she had already thought many times that day, she wouldn’t have wanted to spend it any other way. This had been perfect; it was perfect. She hoped he thought the same way, but she had no room in the brain to think of his opinions; all she knew was that she was happy, and from beginning to end it had been a memorable day; memorable being an understatement.
Her gaze snapped back to him when she felt his body shift, and she calmed when he realized that he was just joining her on the sandy ground. She had been scared for a second, scared that he was going to leave. Those thoughts were washed away in the next second however as she rolled over, and he didn’t even flinch at the newly shortened distance. She chuckled lightly at his words, paw gliding through the sand, daring to swat at him, once again. “Well I sure hope I look better with a head; wouldn’t you?" She teased, eyes catching his for moment before loosely letting them drift away. "Seriously though; one of these days it’s going to happen, and then you’ll regret it all." She added playfully, echoing her previous chuckle with a new one as she went back to relaxing in the sand, not a care in the world able to take her away from this perfect setting. Her eyes only moved back to him when she sensed movement again, only to find him cleaning off his legs, removing all the sand and water that had collected there in the last few minutes. Her head tilted momentarily, before she delicately did the same with her paws, nibbling between her coats to retrieve the sand that had burrowed itself even farther into the furs. She had to admit it was kind of awkward, but it would have been even worst if she had been there doing nothing while he cleaned himself. Besides, she’d probably appreciate doing this now later on.
She let the grainy sand sleek across her tongue, and she made a face of distaste at the taste and simple texture of it. She was done after a few moments, not wanting to do this now and have herself be in a sour mood because of it, and instead propped herself up slightly, tongue lolling around inside of her jaws lazily. She wasn’t let in boredom for long, however, because soon Skoldpadda had thrown another surprise at her. He had moved himself closer to her, and that alone was enough to make her smile, bathing in his scent that was now stronger in her nose. It was when he lightly let his muzzle rest between her eyes and she let his tongue swing against her brow that she seemed surprised, but completely happy with the situation. She seemed to lean into him while their heads were in contact, and her large brown eyes found his in the next second, holding them together while the contact remained. He thought she was full of surprises? For Cheyenne, it was surely the other way around. She inhaled deeply, bathing in the warmth that radiated off of him, never breaking the hold she had on his eyes until he pulled away, crossing his paws and letting his head rest on top of them. She smiled at his, and stretched her head to butt it tenderly against his muzzle, letting it fall to the ground right there, their fur brushing against each other. Somehow, it seemed so perfect and so undeniable pure, that she could have stayed there for the rest of her life, literally. She wasn’t thinking about someone else but Skoldpadda, even with the evening past approaching. Would the end of the day separate them? Or would they be able to spend it together? She could only hope opinion number two was a possibility; she wanted it so bad … so very bad.

He could feel the gritty particles of dirt and sand glide across his tongue, and scratch the sides of his throat as he swallowed them down. He could feel it collect between his teeth as he gently preened the fur on his paws between them. It really wasn't the most pleasant feeling, but it was one he had grown used too in his years, and he was almost able to ignore now. He was a wolf, after all, there were only so many ways you could groom yourself. He continued with the licking and preening for a few more moments, ears still positioned intently toward the female beside him, making sure to notice if she made any sudden movements or sounds which may have been important. Skoldpadda didn't want to miss one tiny little detail with this dame. When he was finally tired of grooming himself, he returned his attention to the female, ignoring the rest of his wet pelt. The sun would take care of the rest with time.
A smile spread across his features as the female's voice rang out into the air again, and he couldn't stop the small chuckle which fall past his jaws. He simply nodded at the end of her first phrase, agreeing that she would indeed look better with her head still intact. He didn't know how she'd look without that pretty little face of hers. He chuckled again as Cheyenne finished off her thought, shaking his head at her playfully. "I would never regret speaking the truth," He chuckled lightly, smiling at her in a dopey sort of way. She was truly something else, something that Skoldpadda couldn't seem to ignore. He was momentarily surprised that he'd been able to stay focused this long, normally his thoughts would have wandered miles by now. He looked at the dainty little grey wolf with a slight curiosity, copper ringed eyes seeming to pry into her chocolate ones again. She was truly captivating, that was the only thing he could come up with. Captivating enough to keep the darkness cowering in the back recesses of his mind.
"Plus, I don't think it's realistic to think that your head will just fall off due to flattery." He offered Cheyenne a wink, his tone matter-of-fact like, but obviously still teasing. His attention never left the wolf beside him, not even after she began preening herself, drying her own limbs. He seemed drawn to her every little action, left unable to look away. He seemed unaware of the tiny, dopey smile which was still residing on his muzzle as he looked at her, but he couldn't help it. She just had this weird effect on him, something he'd never experienced before. After he'd reached out to her, letting his tongue run across her forehead in a playful manner, he could feel her surprise, and a small laugh escaped his throat. He seemed surprised himself when he felt Cheyenne almost lean into him, like she was very content there. This made him even happier, although the tiny movement could have simply been a figment of his imagination, just wishful thinking on his behalf, if you'd call it that.
Either way, as he moved away from her, he was still smiling at her with that same dopey grin, her warm brown eyes catching his and seeming to hold them there. He let his chin fall onto his folded forepaws, resting it there gently as a small sigh escaped him. It was nice here, although the sunlight was beginning to die, it still offered his damp copper coat some welcomed warmth, and he could feel himself beginning to dry. His gaze flicked to the sky for a moment, calculating the location of the sun. It was just beginning to shy behind the trees, and Skoldpadda could feel his mood wavering. Did this mean he would have to leave Cheyenne soon? Females did like their privacy, from what he remembered. Another soft sigh escaped his muzzle as he brought his gaze back down to the female, and he was brought out of his wandering thoughts as she gently bumped her head against his muzzle.
His smile returned, copper ringed eyes searching her face gently as she rested her muzzle of the ground beside his. He let his gaze rest on her face which was now in very close proximity to his own, and he could feel the warmth radiating from her body, and her scent, enclosing around him and soothing his worries. He could feel the tip of his tail twitching slightly against the ground, his ears flicked toward the dame incase she decided to speak up again. "Cheyenne..." He spoke her name with slight hesitation, as if he were indecisive on where he were going direct this conversation. There were many things he would have liked to say right then, but, once again, his gender were making it nearly impossible to find a way to utter the words. Stupid male complexes. Skoldpadda snorted at the thought, holding back the urge to roll his eyes at himself. Instead, he focused his entire attention on Cheyenne, and managed to push out the easiest, most casual words his male ego would allow him too. "Thanks for staying with me today," He started, only pausing to recollect his thoughts. "I don't think I could have ever had a better day." He smiled at her somewhat sheepishly, although his words were completely sincere, even if they were slightly cliche.
