The snow on the mountain had long since melted and any moisture had dried up. It was an overwhelmingly warm day, though it was still early in the morning. The sun was still near the eastern horizon. The cliff was below the tree line of the mountain, but nothing grew on the inhospitable rock face.
Wind tore at the rocky outcropping, threatening to throw her from the cliff and onto the sharp stones below. Somehow, she held on, walking slowly towards the edge of the cliff. Her paws slipped from time to time on the dusty bare rock. But her balance held and, with time, she was nearing the edge of the cliff. Her silvery-gray fur tried to escape with the wind, pulling away from her body. It added to the half-crazed look on her face. Her sky-blue eyes were amazingly focused and showed a fierceness that was not common in many that had been through the same events as she. Perhaps her strength in heart explained when she stood on the cliff, looking down at the rocky slopes below her.
She was not high up on the mountain. She was only halfway up, if even that much. But where she stood gave her a beautiful view of the dry land below. There were forests and rivers that she could see, though they were far off, and lush valleys that, despite the heat, were still green with life. Had she known the names of the many different landmarks in the land of Everfrost, she might have known that the vast lake she could see in the distance was Columbia lake, a lake fed by the streams and rivers that came down from Columbia mountain, which was the very mountain that she now stood on.
She was sweltering in the heat standing out on the rocky ledge, and the wind did nothing but blow more warm air into her face. Her lip curled irritably, Myu turned away from the glorious view and headed back towards the stone walls of the mountain. Not far away there was a small stand of malnourished pine trees. They were far from dead, but they lacked the nutrients to truly thrive up here on the side of the mountain. But beneath their cover it was a little cooler and the breeze actually helped to lower the temperature even more. If there had been water then it would have been perfect.
As her fur settled back down against her skin, Myu also settled down on the pine-covered ground beneath the stand of trees. Instinctively, her nose sifted through the many scents that coated the ground beneath the trees, though not because she was on a lookout for danger. There was the scent of rabbit, which as old, and the scent of deer that had passed by a day ago. There was the scent of the pine needles and of the dry earth. But the one scent that she searched for was not here.
Maya had not been here recently. Perhaps that was a good thing. it meant that she was not around to terrorize the pack that Myu had joined. But perhaps it meant that she had fount Cyrus and was terrorizing her.
Oh! If only she had never left! Perhaps then, all would be well. | |

Oh, Everfrost had been blessed with a warm one today! Cheyenne was pleasantly relieved, and took it upon herself to enjoy the day with a little adventure, since she had nothing else to do; no pack, no close companions, no nothing. She had yet to find any of those, but the female’s spirits and hopes never once were dampened; most others had been in her place before, and they got through it in no time, so why shouldn’t she? Her paws rose and fell in a steady pace against the rocky surface of the mountain path, all moisture drained from the air and the overwhelming sun hot and fierce against her back. Slowly, her tongue slipped from her mouth, and a short panting started to arouse in the air, her long tail waving in sync with her rocking hips. And then, despite all this, wind fought and pushed against her two, creation a wild mixture of warmth and dry air, cold wind and blasting heat, the whole thing seeming almost too much for her to bear.
But, she wasn’t one to give up just because it was a little hot; she was a fighter, and if she couldn’t put up with this, she really had no hope for completing challenges in life. So she pulled herself forward, deep eyes somehow unobservant as she let them wander to the scenery below her, nearing the half-way point of the grand mountain. She stopped in her tracks, whipping around to the irreplaceable view, and let out a soft sigh. How amazing it was to be higher and taller then all else, like you were Queen of the whole damn world…it was an amazing feeling, as Cheyenne would say, and probably a handful of others too. But it was when the next strong gust of wind came, that her attention was pulled away, and her nose twitched as a scent prickled in her nostrils. No ordinary scent, not of a long-gone wolf or creature of prey, but a wolf that is still present, still in the area. With her unobservant nature, without this wind as her savior Cheyenne would have never picked this scent out, and she immediately pulled herself away from the edge and scenery, focusing on her new discovery.
Her muzzle tilted up, ears pricking above and tail stopping its rhythmic sway as she tried to pinpoint the direction; assuming it continued to the North, since she hadn’t passed anyone (or seen anyone) else on the way up, she meekly altered her course further up the mountain, instead of staying there. As she twisted around one large boulder, the ledge she walked upon daring to break and crumble beneath her light weight, she spotted it first; the pine trees, looking more dead the alive, but pine trees none the less. It wasn’t until she moved forward a few paces that she noticed the she-wolf in their shadows, taking shelter from the heat like Cheyenne had told herself not to do.
"Well hello there," She said evenly, showing no more emotion then need be, unsure how the fellow female would react to her arrival. It was only until Cheyenne figured that out that, she’d decide what attitude or emotions to play up. "I didn’t know others took strolls up the mountain for just the hell of it … if that’s what you’ve been doing, of course." Perhaps that hadn’t been the best thing to say, maybe she could have just stuck with the ‘hello’ and left it at that; but no, Cheyenne had added on more, assuming something only to cover it up with a playful hint or curiosity. Yeah, she’d admit that she wanted to know why the female was up here if not on a walk or exploration; was that such a bad thing?
She thought not.

The sensible part of her mind told her that it was not Maya; this wolf looked different. But the obsession had grabbed another part of her mind, and, though it was a weak grasp, she would not drop the idea that this could be Maya. Unable to smell the wolf yet, it was hard to say. So she waited, watching as the stranger drew nearer. If it turned out to be Maya, then she would attack. Even now, her muscles were tensing, as if they thought that battle was close and it was time to finally take revenge on the female from all those years ago.
Here she was, the female, closer now. There was a smell with her; it told Myu that she was a female and that she was not Maya. But Myu was still wary, and her hard eyes watched the female zealously. It had been a while since the obsession had gripped her, she had to admit, and the feeling was not pleasant. But there was nothing she could do about it now. It had taken hold, and she would have to wait it out.
Myu’s fur bristled a little as the wolf drew nearer, and she just barely showed her teeth. A warning. It wasn’t that she didn’t want company. It was only a warning to tell the other wolf that she was dangerous. However, that would pass soon. Myu felt weary, as if she could lay down and take a nap right there. With the arrival of the weariness the obsession would be fade and she would be able to interact normally. But she didn’t know that. She just knew that she felt tired.
Glaring at the female suspiciously, Myu answered, though she completely disregarded everything that the female had said. “Who are you and what do you want ?” she demanded, her voice as sharp as her eyes and her appearance.

It hadn’t been hard for Cheyenne to notice the bristle of her fur or the slight showing of the fangs, her own eyes wandering as she stopped dead in her tracks, wariness starting to creep in slowly but surely. A deep brown gaze found that of the stranger, her long tail flickering out behind her in a more cautious way then anything. "I don’t mean you any harm,” She decided to say first, rolling her shoulders back and pulling herself forward a few steps, features soft and ears tilted back slightly. First of all, she wanted this other female to know she really meant no harm to her, but she supposed that she could somewhat understand why she was so tense; it could just be the way she was.
She stopped a few feet from the cluster of pine trees and took a seat, but ready to jump back if the female insisted on having more space then that. Her invisible brow was cocked, her own fur slightly bristled as a light wind howled across the mountain side, pushing against their fur and the trees, several pines dropping on to the rocky surface. The sun twinkled and radiated warmth even from behind several large, fluffed clouds, yet at the same time casted a small shadow upon them. The slight, momentarily drop in temperature released Cheyenne from a moment of panting, and she actually started to wonder if she should have been smart about this and not vowed to stay in the heat instead of taking shelter.
"I just came here on a morning stroll; I really love it up here, with the view and all." She added on calmly, remembering that the female had demanded her for that too. The corners of her lips twitched, trying to hold back a small smile; smiles were often a friendly gesture that usually calmed the mood, but Cheyenne had a feeling it may not work that way here. Did this female just not like something about her, or was she just in that kind of mood? Though Cheyenne saw small hope for a better few minutes, she wasn’t about to let her hopes down; so they had started off rough, that didn’t mean things couldn’t get better, right?
"What about yourself?" She asked suddenly, unable to hold back the question any longer, her ears pricking atop her head the moment the words left her mouth, determined to get a solid, truthful answer out of her. Cheyenne couldn’t control this wild curiosity of hers, and it proved to be a burden at times; but it can also prove to be a savior, seeing as how these endless questions continued conversations and let the female learn more about the other. Whoever they may be, too!
The perfect balance between nosey and not; that was her.

Did this female really think she was worried about that? Her hostility had nothing to do with being worried about whether or not she meant her any harm or not. Sure, Myu was suspicious of everyone she met outside of the pack. The same thoughts would always run through her head. Did they know Maya? Were they related to her? What if they were? But she wasn’t afraid of being hurt by anyone. She could take care of herself, and she could escape if she couldn’t fight.
Cheyenne. She knew no one of that name. So this was one that she had not come across before. Chances are, this wolf had nothing to do with Maya, but it wouldn’t hurt to find out. She would get to that as soon as the female answered the rest of her question. In the meantime, Myu pricked her ears just slightly forward, the only sign that showed she had interest in the female. The rest of her posture was just as harsh as it had been, as if she were looking for an excuse to tell the female to leave or to even attack. Once again, it was the obsession speaking. It caused her to want to be alone and to suspect everyone of knowing something of Maya. It was beginning to lighten, however, and she was beginning to see that this wolf was no more than a stranger. It would still be a little while before she softened, however.
“How nice,” Myu responded sarcastically. She really didn’t care about why the wolf was doing what she was doing. She just wanted to know what her business was and why she had bothered her. Her voice and her face probably said all that. She hadn’t softened enough to be nice just yet. And her commanding nature probably wouldn’t fade with the obsession. She was used to being a leader. Her gruffness was there to stay as well. “You don’t happen to know a female named Maya, do you by any chance?” she asked, as though it were the most normal question in the world.
“Me?” she repeated, as though she were surprised that someone would ask her what she was doing. In fact, she was surprised. If not pleasantly surprised, she was at least somewhat pleased with the attention. “I’m...not sure what I am doing.” She had been looking for Maya, but she was beginning to remember how futile that search was, and so she tried to come up with another reason for being up here. She failed, but at least she wasn’t spilling her guts about her constant search for the wolf that she hated so much.

Short and sweet; Cheyenne wasn’t really enjoying this moment. Though that was an understatement; she really rather despised it. She wasn’t use to be spoken to in this way, being demanded of things and shown signs of anger and harshness. Trust me, she noticed all the glares, all the bristling of her fur and the showing of her teeth; she wasn’t stupid and she wasn’t going to let herself be pushed around. She let her lip twitch slightly, eyes locking onto those of the female tightly. She tried to unravel and figure out what she was thinking, trying to take in any emotion she could see, but with her rather unobservant nature was hardly successful. Yes, her attempt had failed – guilty as charged – but Cheyenne was hoping that this lady had a proper and good reason for being so rude to her, and if not … they probably wouldn’t get along too well if she was like this all the time.
Cheyenne did however, noticed the prick of her ears, indicting that this unnamed girl had interest in her. That was a start right? Her own ears pricked forward, finally allowing their gazes to drift apart, tongue lolling around inside her mouth lazily, breaths even as she waited patiently for an answer. She had said what she needed, tried to be nice like always, and hoped that would be enough to lighten the mood between the two females. But as her response came, sarcastic and sickly unwanted, Cheyenne almost growled improvingly. Really, had she done something wrong to deserve this?
"I don’t need your sarcasm," She added briskly, like a side note, giving her a sharp look and a short nod. She really didn’t, it wasn’t necessary ands she wouldn’t tolerate it without a reason. Her long tail wafted through the air freely, chocolate gaze drifting back to the face of the other, staying there lightly and observing her facial features. She wanted to know more about her, because despite the rather rude start this was getting off to, this girl intrigued her, because Cheyenne assumed that she wasn’t like this because she had always been so. Those were actually rare to come by for Cheyenne, and she’d met many on her travels. She managed to snap back into reality just in time to hear the stranger’s next jumble of words hover over and sink into her brain. She registered them, invisible brow rising in confusion before shaking her head.
Maya? Who in the world was Maya? A small smile tickled up against her muzzle, though she was able to control in and shove it into the abyss to avoid a conflict with this rather unpredictable wolf in front of her. Maya might have something to do with this behavior, right? It was a possibility, and Cheyenne was sure to lock the name into her brain. "I don’t know anyone by the name of Maya," She said, voice forced to stay even before a question of her own bubbled right out from her vocals so quickly that she had no chance to even think about it. "But while we’re speaking of names, what about yours? I’ll give you mind in return if you’d like it." She was prepared for a harsh remark to that one, judging by the sarcasm she had been given earlier, but she didn’t care. She could try, couldn’t she? There was no harm in that.
A sigh erupted from her throat after silence overtook the air between the two of them, muscles flexing as her rolled her shoulders back and twisted her next, starting to feel the muscles in her legs so stiff from staying in the same position. She was never good with staying still, unless caught in a deep conversation, so this really wasn’t easy for her. She’d have to live with it though, because she didn’t want to screw up finding anything out about this stranger, because she knew that there was something she was hiding. Yes, yes, she had every right too – she didn’t even know Cheyenne’s name – but still, she didn’t have to be so … oh, she just couldn’t think of the right word!
She was pulled from her thoughts as a voice – her voice – came again, easily sounding surprised, which only made Cheyenne’s curiosity stretch further. "Not sure what you’re doing? I’m sure you have some reason for coming up the mountain." She said, her voice able to stay light on its own now, trying to pry a valid and useful answer out of this girl.
So Cheyenne had practically dropped the ‘not-so-nosey’ act by now, and was full on curious now, the feeling seeming to be unable to contain. It was a need; Cheyenne’s past and such had been sorrowful enough, and she always wondered if anyone else had endured things like she had. This could be the case here, but she couldn’t link the few things she knew together to relate to that. This was killing her! She’d like a name at least, something to call her by instead of eventually having to say ‘stranger’ or ‘miss’ or something as ridiculous as that.
My god, this just really wasn’t what Cheyenne was expecting!

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,422,true] | [atrb=background,http://i48.tinypic.com/2h4xbfk.png]Myu was not happy with this situation at all. Of course, she wasn’t in a particularly good mood right now, though she would be back to normal soon. She was slightly more vulnerable when she was in the middle of realizing that her search for Maya was futile, and that seemed to make her more defensive than was necessary. Maybe it made her mean, too. Or maybe this wolf just pushed the wrong button and pissed her off today.
A flicker of annoyance crossed Myu’s face, then faded into a sharp glare. Her eyes were like daggers – sharp and ready to stab their foe, if they could. But instead of her eyes doing the stabbing, it would be her teeth or her claws. This female – whatever her name might be, Myu didn’t really care – had pushed the wrong button indeed, and Myu was not happy with this at all. Her fur bristled as a warning – a warning that her mood was not good and that she was aggressive. It seemed as though this wolf had caught her at a bad time. Rarely was Myu outright mean, though she could often come across as rude. She was harsh, yes, but generally reasonable and fair. She wasn’t a mean wolf. Just a grumpy one.
”Fuck you,” she said, almost as if she were stating a fact. ”If you have a problem, leave. I don’t need to deal with an idiot like you.” By now she was sneering at the female, who was near the same size as herself, though, Myu was a couple of inches taller. In a fight, they would be well matched in size, so it would have to come down to skill. And, with Myu getting more irritated by the second, a fight – even a short one – was possible. In the back of her mind, Myu remembered a meeting much like this one, though it had taken place years ago, when she was younger. Would this turn out as it had before? Would she have another annoying parasite as she had with Gyro? But, she had grown fond of Gyro in the end, even if she had lost him after he had helped her in a fight. She had never seen him again, and she found herself missing him occasionally. This female reminded her of Gyro, though Gyro was male. Myu would not grow fond of this female. Not unless things started changing.
”You know what? I really don’t care what your name is.” While the female had not been as snappy as she had when she confronted Myu’s sarcasm, Myu was still being harsh. She was really in a bad mood. Wolves like this – too nice for their own good – did this to her occasionally. She often responded better to sarcasm and harshness better than she did to softness and kindness. Though, she did not like it when other wolves challenged her. And, as far as she was concerned, this wolf had in some way.
Myu faltered for a moment, her face losing the sharpness in her moment of hesitation. She could tell this wolf what she had been up to, but it would sound crazy and really, who wanted to hear about her past and her obsession? It was crazy, after all. It was the one insanity she could boast of after all these years. And she didn’t think she wanted some stranger from the wilderness to know what was going on in her grumpy, older mind. Still, she hesitated. What was wrong with telling someone that she was looking for a specific wolf? Surely there was no harm in that?
”I am – I mean, I was– “ She let her voice trail off, suddenly realizing that she didn’t want to tell this wolf. She had no reason to. They weren’t friends. And, to top it all off, Myu found her irritating. She sharpened her expression again, glaring at the female. ”What I was doing is no business of yours,” she finally answered. ”Now go away and leave me alone if all you are going to do is annoy me!” She was clearly flustered, perhaps upset because she was confused by her own insanity, however light it was. She knew that it was foolish to keep looking for Maya, but she couldn’t help it. Sometimes there was the urge to just go out and look for Maya. There was nothing she could do to stop it. And she felt foolish because of it.

Cheyenne let her lip curl back in a manner of annoyance and a moment of hatred, holding back a deep growl as she eyed the other hotly. She hadn’t done a damn thing to deserve this – or at least not that she was aware of – and she was above being treated this way. Her muscles twitched, ears pulling back as her tail swept against the ground, arousing clouds of dirt into the air, only to be swept away by the advancing breeze that swept across the path. Slowly she rose to her paws, inhaling deeply as she kept her gaze locked onto the other. Her smaller amounts of muscles rippled beneath her fur, chocolate eyes sharp as she rolled back her shoulders, nose flickering as a small shiver passed through her body, making her stretch and coil as it moved down her spine.
"Look," She said, slips of annoyance and sourness seeping through her tone, slicing through the air towards the unnamed female.“I don’t what I did to make you so mad and piss you off, but I’m not trying to cause a fight. I don’t want a fight.” Cheyenne was too nice for her own good, she should just stick up for herself, bellow out all of those bloody and arrogant words that were boiling in the pit of her stomach, screaming and howling to be let loose. Trust me, she really wanted to, but she knew it would get her no where, not with this girl at least. Maybe though, if she just showed a tad more emotion, it would get her somewhere? She had come to the conclusion that it might, so that was exactly what she planned on doing; let only a pinch of her true feeling get through, mainly by the tone of her voice and look in her eyes. She just wasn’t that kind of wolf to snap off, babbling vicious words and such – of course, she could be brutal and dominant in battle –and naturally, she was kind. She had been raised that way, and really never had to deal with these kinds of things. She had no clue about how to react to it, but she refused to let her mind take over.
Tongue clacked restlessly in between her jaws, twisting around the sharp teeth that decorated the inside, tail flickering simply out of habit as she continued with her standing position. Claws unsheathed from their sockets, poking against the hard rocky soil of mountain trail, shrinking back in hiding when they would not puncture the ground, only to return and try again. It was something to pass the time where silence overtook the two, but it wasn’t doing any good. She registered the rest of the other’s words, her eyes flaring momentarily, before simply returning to slits when she prepared to speak. "Then my name isn’t important, nor is yours." She started smoothly, though the emotions still swept through in tiny, bomb-like bursts, powerful and strong even if she tried to keep herself neutral. Yeah, that wasn’t working so well. This female had struck a nerve in her, one that had never been touched before.
Thoughts trickled to this and that, eyes wandering to the horizon, and the amazingly beautiful view she had come here to see in the first place. So much for the happy time she had been hoping for, this afternoon had altered into a whole other story, and when Cheyenne’s gaze came back to the face of the other, there was a new emotion playing across her face, one that wasn’t so easy to read. "I see, well I’m sorry to have bothered you; if you want me to leave I will. I don’t need a fight, not here and not now, and if the only way to avoid it is to leave, then I will."
It hadn’t been hard to catch the fumble and faltering of the last set of words, and Cheyenne knew right then and there she was hiding something, especially that her expression changed quickly enough, the other clearly deciding that Cheyenne wasn’t one to be told such a thing. She could care less, before every word she had uttered had been true, and despite the anger that still lingered in the depths of her tone, she didn’t want to piss this wolf off anymore, because she assumed things would turn ugly pretty past if she did so. Though curiosity still remained, Cheyenne would have loved to figure out what she was hiding, but obviously, she didn’t want to tell her, and its not like she could force it out of her; that was just plain crazy.

So she was getting on the she-wolf’s nerves? That didn’t mean a thing to her, and why should it? Was she to care about every stray that she came across on the streets? Honestly, there wasn’t a single part of Myu that cared right now. About anything. Her lack of interest showed in her actions. Her gaze wandered for a moment, until she was only looking at the female through her peripheral vision. Instead, she was staring at one of the pine trees nearby, as if it were the most interesting thing in the world. It wasn’t until the female began to speak that Myu slowly moved her head back to it’s original position so that she could watch and listen to the speaker at the same time.
Myu remained completely still and expressionless. It was only when she had finished speaking that Myu offered her a grin. While it was far from a friendly grin, it wasn’t hostile either. It was sarcastic, in a way, but easy and not threatening. ”Well, if you don’t want a fight, then perhaps we need to rethink our strategy here.” Her mood had lightened a bit now that she was able to escape the obsession over Maya. ”Me? I still don’t care whether or not there’s a fight. It doesn’t matter, where I’m concerned.” There was a serious tone in her voice, but it wasn’t a mean one. She was only stating fact. She was willing to cooperate a little, but if this female pushed things then it was likely that Myu could attack. As long as she wasn’t annoyed, things were good, now. She was lightening up, after all. While Myu was not the softest wolf, she wasn’t always outright mean. Only harsh. Her harshness was as much a part of her as her fur, and it only seemed to grow stronger with her age. When it all came right down to it, however, Myu simply didn’t care about this female, and she figured it was unlikely that she ever would. Would she try to get along? Sure, at least for the time being.
Maybe she was lightening up because she was satisfied with the reaction that she had elicited from the female. That seemed likely, since the she-wolf’s reactions made her smile inwardly. Outwardly, she kept the same sarcastic grin, even as the female spoke. As said before, it wasn’t unfriendly or mean, but sarcastic. There was a big difference. Whether or not the female liked the sarcasm in the smile didn’t matter. That was how Myu was, and nothing was going to change that. ”Well then,” she answered, offering the same sarcastic smile. ”There’s something we agree on at least.” She was, of course, referring to their names. And they did agree, or seemed to. Myu did not care what this female’s name was, and she wasn’t sure that she wanted to give her own name. When it came right down to it, names didn’t matter in this game. They would never meet again, after all.
Myu was a very different wolf than she had been just minutes before. The changes came like that. It wasn’t that she had multiple personality disorder or anything, or that she was bi-polar. It was that, when the obsession gripped her she could think of nothing and no one else but Maya. When realization hit her, she returned to normal. That had happened now. She had escaped the memories of her enemy and had returned to the present. Now that she was normal, perhaps it would be possible to have a real conversation – however short that might be. It was all up to this female and whether or not she could handle Myu’s rough personality.
”Did I say I wanted you to leave? I don’t recall,” she answered casually. It wasn’t a “I don’t want you to leave,” statement but a “I really don’t care if you leave or not.” And she didn’t. Would it make a difference to her life? No. So why should she care? ”I really don’t care if you chose to leave or not, actually. That is up to you.” While her voice held a hint of disinterest and almost lightness, it also held a tone of importance. This was the voice of a wolf who knew what she was doing, what she wanted; the voice of a wolf that was used to talking to others in this was. Perhaps even the voice of a wolf who was used to being in charge. She sounded strong and proud. Different from the wolf of five minutes ago. Was it enough of a change – or the right change – to make this female stay?

Cheyenne found herself starting to calm, muscles loosening from their tensed stature and her breath starting to return to a more neutral rhythm. This came with her great relief; she hated feeling anger, the very emotion made her insides churn. She didn’t like thinking she’d happily fight someone, or want them to feel pain, or simply just be a nuisance to aggravate them. It was just so unappealing to her, despite what others might think of her opinion on the emotion. A sharp inhale was made and her eyes fluttered closed momentarily, blocking out reality for a few moments. She had almost gotten a little snappy there, but now she was just as calm as she had been in the first place.
However, her eyes opened when her words began to register, and she gave the other her full attention when she replied. That was good to hear, and it would seem as if whatever had been bugging the female had wandered from her mind for a little bit; maybe this was the opportunity for better conversation, or at least get on neutral ground with one another"Rethink our strategy?" She echoed softly, almost musing the idea. "That would probably be best, I think. As for a fight, I think we could easily avoid it." She explained, voice neutral and holding too much emotion, not wanting to do anything to get them rolling back into a little spat.
But of course, Cheyenne had noticed that sarcastic grin, but she made no comment on it; it would have to do, it was as close as a smile as she might get today. It was good enough for her, and was much preferred over a snarl of growl. Wouldn’t anyone agree? The female still remained tense, however, unsure how to really react around her right now; she was still wary, and that much was understandable, and she was really too nice for her own good. Even if the mood of the other had lightened up, she still shouldn’t be so accepting of the sudden change. A nerve had been struck inside of her, and she should still be infuriated because of that, should she not? Maybe one of these days, someone would give the girl a lesson on how to be a little less nice and a little more persistent. However, Cheyenne knew that wouldn’t last for long; she had been raised well, and despite what’s happened since then, she was who she has always been, and it would never permanently be changed.
Then came the others voice again, and the girl found herself once again snapping her full attention to her, like nothing mattered but the words that came from her mouth and reactions she delivered. Again, nothing angry or hostile, and she gave a quick nod, trying to avoid a smile coming across her face. The happy expression tugged at the edges of her lips, daring to appear, but she managed to keep it pushed back, only the slight curl of her lips donating a sliver of the emotion Cheyenne was feeling to the other. "I guess so; at least we agree on something, hm?" She replied smoothly, tail flickering out of habit against the rocky terrain below her as it hung limp. She remained standing, still not sure about what to do in concern to body language, but keeping a standing position seemed like the safest possibility.
Cheyenne mind was pondering, the wheels turning and grinding against each other for a suitable answer. Why the sudden change in the other female’s personality and behavior? There was obviously a reason behind it, and the thought of it was itching at the girl, an itch that just couldn’t be stopped; if one answer came forth, she’d shoot it down and the itch would grow stronger, more persistent in her brain. It was a very aggravating feeling, and Cheyenne was in the midst of teaching herself how to conceal her emotions properly; she didn’t want everyone knowing how she felt simply by looking at her face, because frankly that has happened to her before. Aside from all of this though, she saw a potential small friendship between them – could you imagine? – and though the thought was a stretch, it was surely possible. Cheyenne knew not to get her hopes up though, anything could happen within the next few seconds, minutes or even moments. This was during out to be simply unpredictable.
"Hmpt," She breathed softly to herself, invisible brow raising in question. Well, that was stating that she didn’t care that she stayed or left, so that surely meant that she wouldn’t mind if she stayed, right? Cheyenne hadn’t trudged all the way up the mountain in search for some company and a nice afternoon just to leave because of an ill start; she’d give it a shot, and quickly made her decision. “Well then. I think I’ll stay,” She replied, voice directed to her this time, that smile daring to appear again, in a coy and teasing manner. "Or at least until I’m given a better reason to leave." Eyes remained fixated upon the other female now, wanting to try and decode everything she could out of her reaction. Happiness? Surprise? Whatever the outcome was, she wanted to see it. Cheyenne was nosey that way, and really disliked not knowing what was going on around her; she enjoyed being ‘in the loop’, so to say.
The change had been very shocking, but somewhat pleasant. Cheyenne was prepared to give this a chance and see where things went from here; there was no harm in that. She’d keep her word though; if anything else aroused, more anger bubbled between the two, she’d be more then happy to leave. She was interested and she knew that there was little to no harm in that, and was hoping to get a somewhat happy reaction from the other, if she truly didn’t mind with her presence.
