"Talking"
Size, as it turned out, had no effect on one’s capacity for anger, and there was no better example of that than the small, incredibly pissed off wolf pacing the ridge. Her ears were perked and her hackles were raised, with every one of her muscles tensed for a fight.
How dare he take her territory? Laya snarled into the open air, hitting a small rock hard enough that it seemed to fly off the cliff. Of course he would pay; there was no way that she would let him get away with what he had done. Still, she couldn’t rush into anything; as always, her small size prevented her from running into a fight when she didn’t know she had the upper hand. The brown female’s body quivered and she slashed at the ground again, leaving scratches behind. Some part of her wished the gashes would remain there forever, as some permanent mark of her rage. The nerve of that flea-infested mongrel!
The former alpha didn’t know what to do. She had been patrolling the borders when that bastard had walked in and challenged her. The Kintla lands were big enough that she couldn’t make the journey in a day, not after having exhausted herself keeping the borders guarded and especially not given her relatively short legs. Still, she was not an impulsive wolf; she couldn’t charge in and challenge him again. She had to make a plan. Her golden eyes narrowed as she stared off over the land, allowing herself a moment to get lost in thought. If Malady were here, he could help her. Yes, Malady… where had that brute gone off to? It didn’t matter; she would call him anyway and hope he came.
With that decision made, the female took a deep breath, tilted her head back, and let out a sound that could only be described as haunting. It was one of the few times Laya would allow herself to show true emotion to the general population and that sound was not just a summons, it was also a vessel for the feeling of loss that came with having her pack taken away. Still, it didn’t take long before that fragile emotion warped into anger once more, and she was left seething. She went back to pacing as an idle growl rumbled from her throat. She didn’t even notice the sound as she stalked back and forth across the ridge, thoughts running wild as she bided her time, waiting for some grand plan or for Malady – or even some other wolf she was familiar with, which at this point only included Malik and Kalial. Still, if anyone came it would impress her; at the moment, Laya was not really feeling the love.

| [atrb=background,http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa35/Sigath/maladytableforanyumid.png] this is the scent of dead skin on a linoleum floor this is the scent of quarantine wings in a hospitalMalady had been able to do absolutely nothing when the challenger had come. He was not the alpha; Laya was, and she hadn’t been around. So what was he to do? All that he had been able to think of was watch from the sidelines as the challenger took over, and, when that had happened, he left to search for Laya. She hadn’t been around when the challenger had come, and he saw it as his job to find her and discover whether or not she knew what had happened to her pack. He had assumed that she already knew, and because of that he was almost afraid of what would happen when he found her. Would she blame him for what had happened? Or would she simply take out all of her anger on him? Physically, he wasn’t afraid of her. He just hated it when she was upset with him. He loved her. It hurt when she was angry at him.
So he had searched for her, but he had not been able to find her. He had searched Kintla territory, avoiding the new alpha, but had found no sign of her. So he had exiled himself to the outlands, where he continued his search. But he had yet to find any sign of the female that he loved so much. He was close to giving up.
He was searching an area of Everfrost that he had never been to before. It was a long ridge located in large forest that gave him a good view of much of the surrounding area. He had spent some time there, searching for Laya, but he hadn’t found any sign of her and now it was time for him to retreat back into the forest. Malady had found a path that led down the edge of the cliff and he had begun the trek down the side of the ridge when he heard a sound that echoed through the entire surrounding area. It was a howl, but not like any howl that one normally hear. It was different – laced with emotions such as anger. He recognized the voice, but he had never heard such emotion in it before. At least not that he could remember.
Just moments after the last echoes of the call faded away into the distance, Malady turned as fast as he could on the narrow path and bounded back to the top of the ridge. He wasn’t entirely sure where the sound had come from, but he had a feeling that he would find Laya a little further down the ridge. Once he scrambled up the path he ran down the rocky cliff top as fast as he could, hoping that he would see Laya appearing in the distance very soon. In fact, it wasn’t long before he could see a shape appearing on the horizon. It was easy to see for miles along the top of the cliff, where little foliage grew, so it was easy for him to see her once he was close enough.
When she came into focus Malady slowed, not so eager to approach her quickly. He was still worried that she was going to be mad at him for not doing something about the takeover. So he slowed until he almost came to a stop and approached cautiously, not sure what to expect from the female, who was clearly angry. He was right, then; she already knew about the takeover, even though she had not been there for it (as far as he knew). When he was still several feet away from her he stopped, looking at her apologetically. ”Laya,” he said softly, not sure if he had her attention just yet.

"Talking"
Her heart raced as she stalked along the cliff, silently fuming. Even with the short amount of time that had passed since her call, her anger hadn’t cooled off, not even a little. With every beat of her heart, her blood seemed to boil even more. That idiot had taken her pack away, which was not something she could dismiss so lightly. Laya’s fur bristled just thinking about it and she couldn’t stop her lips from curling back; she knew it was stupid, but she wanted nothing more than to pick a fight with someone. Anyone would do, at this point; she just needed to vent.
The drop below the cliffs looked oddly inviting, but she knew that it was a fool’s move to jump off; if she died, who would reclaim her pack? For that matter, it was hard to tell if anyone would bother mourning the loss, since Malady didn’t know where she was and the brown femme wasn’t exactly swimming in friends. If anyone even found her body, she doubted they would recognize her, so suicide wasn’t an option. It hadn’t actually been to start with, if she were honest with herself, but finding the reasons not to, as depressing as they were, distracted her from her rage for a moment.
As she dwelled on her thoughts, Laya glanced around, taking in her surroundings for what was probably the first time since she got up here. There was, of course, the drop off into whatever lay at the bottom of the cliffs. The forest to her other side was almost as uninviting as the drop right now, mostly because Laya didn’t feel like being surrounded on all sides; the fact that she was, in fact, pinned in on two sides because she didn’t want to go into the forest or attempt to fly was not lost on her, but she simply decided to appreciate the irony. However, besides those two things, which were nearly impossible to notice, the only mildly interesting occurrence was the figure approaching from somewhere farther along the cliff.
Instinctively, Laya’s ears pricked up and her posture shifted to display her usual confidence; nobody needed to know that she was taking the loss of her pack so hard, after all. As the figure drew closer, however, she got the feeling that she knew the wolf, and as he slowed down she was sure she did. Her body slumped, her head lowered dejectedly, and her ears were the only parts of her that still seemed able to stand up on their own. He would be so disappointed in her, she was sure of it, and somehow that was worse than anything she had been feeling before. She had let that mongrel waltz right in and take her land from her, from them, and that was most definitely not alright. How could he forgive that?
His tone practically screamed caution at her and, rather than meeting his gaze, she turned her head. Just like that, her anger had slipped away, leaving a guilty, uncertain mess behind. “Hey, Malady…” She managed a hesitant half-smile, but that quickly fell away as well. She felt open and painfully vulnerable with this male, yet she let herself be so exposed anyway. The only word she knew for that was love, though it was still hard to even think that. It had taken a head wound to make her face her feelings once and, even now, it was still hard for her to admit to having them. Since they had found each other again, she and Malady had an easy sort of companionship, but she hadn’t actually told him how she felt. She hadn’t said it in so many words, at least. Talking to Laya for even a few minutes made it quite clear that there was something there; it was in her voice and her eyes, but even her scent gave her away. The fact that she herself didn’t say anything was more a testament to her own issues than any lack of feeling for the male.
Put simply, she did not want to have feelings. If it were entirely up to her, the female would have been a cold, calculating, manipulative bitch. Still, somehow he had gotten a hold in the wall she had built around her heart and, since then, genuine feelings had started to creep through. Anger was easy, of course; it was as passionate as she could be, but more importantly it was one of the hardest emotions to fake without some sincerity behind that mask. Weakness, however, was easy to fake, yet harder than anything to admit to when it was real. That didn’t mean that it wasn’t preferable to anger when it came to the large male before her, though; she didn’t blame him and, as much as she had wanted a fight, there was no way she was going up against Malady. For one, she would lose quite badly, but for another she didn’t want to risk driving him away; he was the only wolf she felt she could truly count on and risking that would be an unnecessarily stupid move.
With a sigh, she turned her golden eyes to his face and allowed her tail one pitiful wag against the ground, “What should I do?” She actually meant to say ‘we’, but her pride prevented that much at the moment; she was too exposed emotionally already, though it didn’t make sense to pull away just yet. Still, it was hard to admit that she needed help figuring out her next move, and it would be even harder if she let him know that she might actually need him to make whatever they came up with work. The togetherness was still implied, but the phrasing let her keep some amount of her pride. A soft, determined snort left her nostrils and she straightened up, defiance burning the guilt from her eyes, “ What happened after that son of a bitch took the pack?” Her lips curled into a slightly malicious smile as she looked at Malady, ready to plan her revenge. This was going to be fun.

| [atrb=background,http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa35/Sigath/maladytableforanyumid.png] this is the scent of dead skin on a linoleum floor this is the scent of quarantine wings in a hospitalWhen he first began to reach her, Laya appeared to be maintaining a confident posture, but as he drew nearer he watched her slump more and lower her head. The change startled him, and when he had reached her and stopped his eyes carried concern with them. She was obviously far from herself, and he feared that she blamed herself too much for losing the pack to the male that had claimed it as his own. He did not believe that it was her fault, even if it was, and he would never blame her for it. It was his fault for doing nothing, as he was almost as much of an alpha as she was. He held no formal title in the pack, but he may as well have.
He waited for her to answer him before saying anything else. When she did answer, she turned her head away from him. Malady wanted to reach out to her, to comfort her, but he was not sure how she would take it in the state that she was in. Rather than push things, he ventured out just enough to say two words. “What’s wrong?” He knew the obvious answer, of course. Some bastard had come in and taken her pack from her without a fight. But he was trying to look deeper into her feelings. He knew what had upset her, but he wanted to know how she felt and what she was thinking. He could only hope that she knew what he was asking, and wouldn’t give him an answer that he already knew. Instinct made him move a little closer to her, but before he could reach out and nuzzle her he stopped himself. He knew that she was not completely comfortable with her feelings, and he didn’t want to push it when she was in this state. He worried about being this close to the cliff, as well. He glanced at it, deciding that it was a danger to Laya. “Why don’t we…move a little closer to the trees,” he suggested cautiously. “I don’t like being out in the open like this. It’s not safe.” He hoped that he could disguise his real fear with his fictional one.
What Malady didn’t know was that, some time ago, he had encountered something that had given him a special power. It allowed him to speak to others using his mind. Though he was not aware of his power, it was there, and it chose this time to active. His mind, without his knowledge, began sending messages to Laya’s mind. ”I’m worried about her. I don’t want her getting so upset that she’s tempted to jump off a cliff…” was the message that his mind had sent to her as it betrayed him, though he was not aware of it. It would be up to her to draw her own conclusions, if she received the message, and then tell him if she thought that was necessary. Without knowledge of what had happened, he continued to express concern through his facial features. He watched her with careful eyes, hoping that she would be alright, given time.
When she finally looked at him again, he cheered up a little bit. It was strange to him that she was asking him for advice, and for a moment he wasn’t sure what to say. But he recovered himself quickly. “You should find a way to take the pack back, of course,” he said, trying to lighten the mood a little. “We can plot his death, create unrest among his pack members, make his leadership crumble. Whatever it takes, we should do it.” He smiled mischievously at her. “Shit, I’ll even walk into the territory right now and eat him for you, if you ask me to.”
His smile faded a little. He wasn’t sure exactly what to do. He could easily go in there and defeat him for her, but how would that make her feel? He didn’t want her to feel incapable or useless. What should be their next move? In the mean time, he turned his head away from her in shame. “I…don’t really know what happened,” he said, guilt layering his voice. “I left. I…didn’t know what to do. You were gone and…well, I just wasn’t sure what I was supposed to do.” He turned back and looked her in the eye. “I’m sorry, Laya, really I am. I should have done something, I know. But I didn’t know what. I’m a fighter, but I can’t lead. I didn’t think I could hold the pack until you were there. I’m so, so, sorry.” He pleaded with her through his eyes, begging for forgiveness. He felt bad for not acting in her stead. He should have done something. But what?

"Talking"
More than anything, she wanted him to touch her. It wouldn’t have made everything alright, but there was a connection you felt to another with touch that couldn’t be replaced by anything else. She wanted to huddle up against him and let him protect her from everything; she wanted to be weak without being vulnerable. Simply put, Laya wanted someone to keep her safe, though she would never put those feelings into words. His question surprised her a bit; she thought he would know better than anyone what this storm of emotions could be called. “I... I lost the pack. I lost our home...” And there it was, the reason it stung so badly. It wasn’t just that she had lost the pack; there were few wolves loyal to that anyway. No, the true blow was to that part of her that had finally begun to think of the land as home, as a place to settle down after years of running and finally start something.
He moved closer, but stopped before they touched. She held back that quivering, fragile part of her that wanted to press against him and never leave. Malady’s next statement brought a look of pure surprise to her face, “Are you serious?” She actually laughed at that, though the sound was only a bit less sarcastic than it was amused. Realizing that he was, she only laughed harder, though she did take a few steps towards the forest, just to humor him. As far as she was concerned, he was paranoid, though at that point she wasn’t sure whether it was about her or actually their safety as he claimed. The next words she heard from him surprised her, obviously, and her laughter stopped abruptly while she listened. “Malady, you fur-for-brains,” she told him evenly, turning to look him dead in the eye, “I am not going to jump off a cliff.” The twinkle of amusement was still there, but she was as serious as could be. Since she had been facing the forest and not the male, she didn’t realize she hadn’t actually heard his voice.
His final suggestion had her snickering, “I rather like the eating him idea. Care for some help? I’m a bit peckish...” Please, touch me... Her mood was lighter, for sure, but that voice in her head sounded almost childish; its simple want certainly didn’t help. Laya had no idea that her thoughts could be sent to the male who stood close to her, so she didn’t bother guarding them at all. “Maybe... maybe he’ll just leave. Though you know I always like some dissent with my breakfast...” She smirked, though his next reply was met with a somewhat gloomier expression, her ears seeming to droop towards her skull as he spoke. “If it ever happens again, you’d better fight. You drive the threat away and you wait; the pack shouldn’t need much leading if I do my job in choosing who can stay. They should know well enough to keep things together until I return.” The former Alpha gave a frustrated sigh, rolling her shoulders a bit in an effort to loosen the knot forming between them, “Malady, when I’m not around, you’re in charge, okay? You’re my second-in-command.” In other words, she’d just made him Beta of a pack she currently didn’t lead. “Would you be my Leader of the Guard, once this is all over?” It was an almost formal request, but she didn’t doubt he would accept it; it was the sort of thing she felt he would be well suited for, as well. He might not have wanted to lead their pack, but she had seen that he had a keen mind beneath his fur; there was no way she would have tried seducing him when they had first met otherwise. He would do well in that role, Until the timing is right and he can be Alpha as well... She permitted the small fantasy, having no idea she wasn’t alone in her own mind.
They would be great together and she knew it, not just because they were two powerful wolves in their own right but because she had a plan; Laya always had a plan. Her tail wagged slowly as the bad feelings began to burn away and her logical mind took over. That bastard had to have a weakness and damned if she didn’t find it! Some small sound caught her attention, however, and her gaze drifted back to Malady. Though she hadn’t had time to dwell on it before, she was in heat; spring did tend to have that effect on a female’s body. She had no responsibilities at the moment, though she did need to get her pack back, and the moment she realized that small amount of freedom she felt somewhat exhilarated; it wasn’t normal for her to not have anything she actually had to do right then. There was an odd, fluttery feeling in her chest and she gave him a smile over her shoulder before taking a few more steps towards the forest. Her tail swayed provocatively and her hips shifted a bit more than necessary, accentuating the motion. I wonder if he’s noticed I’m in heat... she wondered, chuckling inwardly. Even if he didn’t take the bait, teasing him was a pleasant distraction from the unpleasant thoughts that circled her mind. The idea that he wouldn’t have known was a strange one; most wolves used their noses as often as their eyes or ears, but it was possible that he hadn’t caught it on her scent because he was so busy worrying about her. Laya’s eyelids were lowered suggestively as she glanced back at him again; to say she was giving him a “come hither” look was probably putting it far too mildly. Though it might seem immodest to some, Laya was quite confident that she could start a war with that look, but at the moment all she was interested in was the dark wolf behind her.

| [atrb=background,http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa35/Sigath/maladytableforanyumid.png] this is the scent of dead skin on a linoleum floor this is the scent of quarantine wings in a hospitalConcern filled Malady’s eyes, understanding how she felt. She blamed herself for losing the place that both of them had begun to consider as home. He knew exactly how she felt in that instance, because he blamed himself for exactly the same thing. He wanted to reach out, touch her, and tell her that he understood how she was feeling right now. But that continuing fear of how she might take something like that still filled his mind. He had known Laya for so long, but he was still not sure how the wolf he loved would react to him trying to comfort her physically. That was why he still hesitated, even now, to simply touch her.
Malady followed as she took a few steps towards the forest, laughing. He didn’t understand how it was so funny, and he looked rather dejected after being laughed at. Suddenly, however, she turned to look him in the eye and he stopped, frozen in place. All emotion except for surprise left his face and he stared blankly at her, not sure what was going on just now. How could she know what was going on in his head at that time? “I didn’t…how did you…I never said I thought you were going to jump off a cliff.” It took Malady several tries to get the words out of his mouth as he was still confused by what had just happened. It was as if she had read his thoughts, since he knew that he had not spoken that particular concern out loud. His thoughts were still running wild, and, once again without realizing it, he sent Laya a message through his new magic. This time, however, she was looking right at him and there was no way that she could think that she was actually hearing him speak. “How the hell did she figure out what I was thinking? Does she have some kind of magic that lets her do that? What isn’t she telling me?”
He recovered quickly enough and managed to keep up with her responses, though it took him some time to actually free himself of the confusion that he was feeling after what had just happened. He tried to smile at her response, but it was hard for him, especially when he suddenly started hearing her voice in his head. He stopped again, looking at her intensely. He knew that she had not spoken aloud, but he also knew that he had heard her voice coming from somewhere. What was this? Who was toying with his mind and why? He couldn’t figure it out. And then it hit him. Last winter, in the snow, he had rested against a rock that had felt warm despite the subzero temperatures and the snow. Only now did it make sense in his mind. That hadn’t been just any rock, obviously. Why else would it have felt so strange when he had rested against it? “Oh shit,” he cursed quickly, realizing that it was him, not her, that had the magic. “Laya…um…I have something else to tell you.” He looked at her almost guiltily, as if he had been keeping some terrible secret from her. He felt bad mostly because he had just accidentally heard her thoughts. It felt like spying to him, and he didn’t want to do that to her.
“Laya, I would gladly be your Leader of the Guard, if that is what you want me to do.” He really had no opinion on the matter. He didn’t care what his position in the pack was, as long as he was with her. Though there was a small part of him that felt honored that she had finally given him a position to fill. He had felt slightly useless before, not really having a set purpose in the pack. Honor wasn’t all that he was feeling. There was happiness there as well, and he couldn’t stop the smile that spread across his muzzle and the light that appeared in his eyes. Generally pleased with this new development in their relationship, Malady gained a sudden new confidence. Maybe it had been hearing her thoughts, or maybe it was just that she had finally given him a purpose in the pack, but he felt giddy. When he was beginning to think that he might finally do something about how he felt, Laya began to move away from him after giving him a smile. He stopped for a moment, as though he had been put on pause, and watched her as she walked away. Something clicked in his brain when he finally remembered to breathe in, and then he realized a part of what was going on. Her scent couldn’t lie; Laya was in heat. The realization sent feelings coursing through him that he had never had to deal with before. He couldn’t put names to them, but he knew that instinct was a part of them.
Confusion spread across his face yet again. First he took a few stiff steps forward, but then he stopped again and looked at her like a brain-dead pup. It was obvious that he wasn’t exactly sure what was going on and that he wasn’t sure what to do about it. In his head he was struggling to regain control of his thoughts. It took a minute, but when he was finally able to grasp what was happening to him he managed to take control. He blinked several times, then took control of his body. A smile spread across his muzzle yet again and he began to move towards Laya. The looks she was giving him were all too tempting, and he came up behind her until they were side by side, his fur brushing against hers. It had been a long time since they had really touched, and just the feeling of her fur brushing his made it feel like he was being shocked. When his head was level with hers he let his hips gently bump into hers. His body felt like it was burning, and he knew he wanted her. But he needed the invitation first. He did not want to push his luck with this female, even if he was certain that she loved him. But his confidence was brimming at this point and he looked down at her with a smile, waiting for her to make a move.

"Talking"
One of the female’s eyebrows rose and she tilted her head at him slightly, “Didn’t you?” Confusion was plastered on her features as she mulled that over. It didn’t take long for his next message to get through and she blinked, staring intently at his mouth, “You didn’t just say something, did you?” She waited a moment before continuing, “I know I can heal simple things, but to my knowledge I can’t read minds... can I?” Her expression would have been comical if she didn’t look as if she would take his head off for laughing at her. She was trying very hard to make sense of what was going on and, as she didn’t know about his visit to the Stone during the colder months, she had no way of knowing what was going on; the lighter wolf was missing a very important piece of information.
His response to her joke only confused her further. Too much was happening and it took her a little too long to keep up with it all; she was far too focused on trying to make sense of his unusual reactions to worry about his comment until he continued. What the hell could he need to tell me? she thought, slightly worried. She didn’t say anything out loud but simply waited for him to continue, not wanting to rush Malady into saying anything. It was clear that she was interested, if not outright curious, but she didn’t push; he would tell her when he told her and it didn’t do any good to insist on hearing it any sooner.
Laya’s smile was genuine when he accepted her request; she was honestly happy that he would be the one in charge of keeping the pack safe. He was a good fit in every way, from what she could see. His smile, though it was slow to appear on his face, made her all the more confident in the decision; he seemed genuinely glad with that development. As she watched his reaction as he caught her scent, the smaller female chuckled; though she wouldn’t even think it coherently, she certainly found it adorable. She swished her tail slightly, sending more of her scent towards him. It was fun to tease the male, whether they would go through with anything or not.
As she stood there, waiting for him to make some motion to indicate that she hadn’t just fried the poor male’s brain, something finally clicked – magic. One of them had some sort of magic. Since she knew about her healing and she hadn’t had any other experiences that would have caused her to develop any, it must have been him. Interesting... she thought, unsure whether he could hear it or not. Malady... can you hear me? If he couldn’t, she would feel really stupid, but if he could then that would be a huge asset to the pack. Perhaps she would consider this some more when they were in a less personal situation; she made a mental note to bring it up later.
When he finally gathered his wits, she grinned at him, the look in her eyes far more appropriate for somewhere far more private than the edge of a cliff. “Then again...” she licked her lips and raised her tail, leaning into his side as he brushed against her. “Maybe I'll think of something else to do with you...” The feeling made her stomach do a pleasant little flip and her body tingled in a way that was far too appealing to ignore. She turned her head and licked his chin, then his muzzle, far too interested in how things were going to bother with any sort of charade. Her body shifted, evening out her stance a bit as she looked up at him, Go on... she thought at him, smirking. Her hips shifted a bit, raising her hindquarters a bit higher; she was teasing and she was clearly aware of it. That said, she was doing her best to make his decision as easy as possible; the small female was making it as clear as possible what she wanted in that moment so that he wouldn’t have to worry about any sort of hurt feelings between them if he decided to act on what he very likely wanted as well.

| [atrb=background,http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa35/Sigath/maladytableforanyumid.png] this is the scent of dead skin on a linoleum floor this is the scent of quarantine wings in a hospitalConfusion lit his eyes, as he blinked several times, trying to understand what was happening between them. “No, I didn’t…” he said. It was around the same time that he had realized what was happening to him, though he only had a vague idea. “No, you can’t read minds,” he said, his voice strained in a mixture of relief and tension. He was glad that it was him and not her – he wasn’t sure he wanted her reading all of the thoughts going through his head – but he was worried that this might upset her somehow. “Laya…I think I have some kind of magic. I’m not really sure. I’m confused.” He had never had magic before, so this was new to him. When he had realized that it was him and not her he had decided to tell her about his visit to the Stone, but he couldn’t quite get the words out of his mouth. “There was this…stone…and…and…” he trailed off. He wasn’t really sure how to word it for her.
Malady blinked. He thought, for a moment, that he had heard something in his head. He was confused when he heard Laya’s voice in his head. It wasn’t very clear, but he managed to understand what she had said. Still, this confused him more than he had already been. He had thought it was he who had the magic. So why was he hearing her voice in his head? “Ye-yes…” he stammered, not realizing that he could have spoke back to her through the link in their minds. He stared at her, waiting for an explanation of some sort.
Malady had never been good at making decisions when it came to Laya. He was afraid to touch her because of his fear that it would make her angry with him. Now she was suddenly leaning against him, closer than they had been during most of their time spent together since they had met. Her scent made it harder for him to think straight and harder for him to worry about what may or may not upset her. There were feelings and urges in him that he hadn’t felt before and he didn’t understand, but he didn’t have the drive to try and figure them out. Not with Laya garnering all of his attention.
She shifted, making her intentions more obvious. He moved away from her side and turned to look at her for a moment. He heard her thoughts for a second, not sure if they were aimed at him or not, and looked at her. There was a question in his eyes for a moment, as if he felt the need to think about what he wanted to do, or if he had remembered for a moment that he always tried to be careful so that he would not upset her. But, from what he could see, she was far from upset here and she wanted this as much as he did. The way she stood and the looks she had been giving him made the decision for him; he might not get another shot at this.
He moved behind her, not feeling very ceremonious at that moment. He was new at this, after all, and he wasn’t exactly sure of himself. Instinct guided him a little, however, and he could take over once that got him started. For a moment there was a part of him that worried about hurting her. He was much larger than she. Would this even work? Then he shrugged it off. She knew what she was doing, right? He moved forward a bit, so he was closer, and leaped forward, landing as softly as he could with his front half on top of Laya. He nipped at one of her ears affectionately, and then settled himself…
(and then stuff happened and Laya was pregnant xD)
it's not so pleasant and it's not so conventional it sure as hell ain't normal, but we deal, we deal
