Males;; 3
Females;; 4L E A D E R S
Alpha Female;; Laya
Alpha Male;; -
Alphas are typically mates, and they rule the pack together. However, Laya does not want to share her power with a male and refuses to take a permanent mate. While this position is usually one held by a wolf with good physical strength, intelligence is a key factor as well.
Betas;; n/a
There actually are no Beta wolves in this pack, since the different roles all have their own titles; those closest to the position would be the Leader of the Guard, Lead Hunter, and Lead Healer. Each provides important insight into a different aspect of the pack's continued well-being.
Leader of the Guard;; Malady
If Laya puts a wolf in this position, it is because she trusts that wolf's leadership ability and judgment. The leader of the guard is essentially the head of security for the pack, and as such tasked with keeping the lands guarded and the members safe from outside threats.
Lead Hunter;; -
The lead hunter is in charge of organizing the hunters of the pack, as well as other wolves who wish to join a hunt. The lead hunter also has the job of reporting to the leaders how much prey is available and keeping tabs on the other creatures in the pack's lands.
Lead Healer;;
This is the wolf in charge of caring for the sick and wounded, as well as organizing the pack's healers. The stronger the wolf's ability, the more likely it is that he will get this position, though personality is a factor as well. As well as taking care of the infirm, this wolf is also given the task of teaching wolves new to healing about their powers.F O L L O W E R S
Guards;; Malik
Guards are the pack's border patrol and security detail, all rolled into one. They frequently check the borders, ensuring that their territory is secure, and they also have the job of protecting the leaders when they meet with other packs.
Spies;; Jetela
These are the wolves who are good at sneaking around without being caught. They report to the leader of the guard, though they will occasionally be asked to report directly to Laya herself. Spies are chosen for their discretion and their ability to gather and retain information.
Hunters;; Aislin
These wolves are in charge of feeding the pack. As well as hunting down prey, they are also tasked with keeping track of other animals' populations and report to the lead hunter.
Healers;; -
Any wolves who have the ability to heal automatically fall under this category. While they can also fill other positions, these are the ones who will be called on if the pack is attacked, or if anyone is wounded during a hunt. Many choose to be hunters or guards as well, since healers are needed more often by those groups than by the pack as a whole.
Pups;; -
Any wolf under a year old is considered a pup. Until they reach one year of age, wolves are not given a rank and are simply encouraged to learn.
Newcomers;; Shika, Rosto
Wolves who have just joined the pack but who haven't yet been given a rank are considered newcomers until Laya finds a place for them to fit.
Other;; -
If a wolf cannot perform his or her duties to the pack anymore, they will still be considered members, but they will be cared for by the rest of the pack. Only those who are permanently unable to return to their previous responsibilities are listed here.
Special;; -
Sometimes, Laya will meet a wolf and have an idea of some special way to use that wolf's individual skills. These wolves report directly to her. The assignments within this group are as varied as the wolves themselves, though occasionally they will be asked to team up to complete a mission.O T H E R
Exiles;; -
If a wolf is exiled and returns to the pack lands, they are not permitted to pass the borders except to meet with the leaders, and only with an escort. If they do so, members are allowed to attack and kill the wolf. However, if the exiled wolf requests a meeting with the leaders, they will respect that and the escort will signal that members should not attack.
Visitors;; -
If, for whatever reason, a wolf is visiting the pack, they are permitted to wander around the other wolves, or around the lands if they have a guard. The visitor must first announce himself and receive permission from a leader before he is welcomed.
