First of all, only respond to this post if you have previously talked to me about an interest in the position of Crandell alpha. This means that you need to have PMed me previously to try out here. If you are interested in the position of Crandell alpha, then PM me.
Second, this thread is so that all of the staff can see the tryouts of those who are interested. Otherwise we would have tryouts turned in via PMs.
Those who are responding to this thread must fill out the following form and respond to the following scenario. They must also have an accepted character.
Scenario: Your wolf is the alpha of Crandell. By now your wolf has a good-sized pack, with around 15 members. Your wolf sent out a patrol of three that morning. When they did not return, your wolf went out to personally search for them. When your wolf finds them, they are in confrontation with two loner wolves that trespassed. These loners had clearly made a kill on Crandell lands. Two of the patrolling wolves have one loner brutally pinned down. The other patrol member has the second loner backed into a corner. It is clear that the two loners are in no condition to fight, and are only defending themselves. In your post, your wolf must address the situation. You may use more than the 5 NPC characters that have been included in this scenario, and you choose the genders. personalities, and names of the NPCs that are described here as you write your tryout. As long as you follow the basic scenario, you can be creative and do whatever you want with it.
When staff go over the post they will take into consideration grammar and spelling as well as how well your wolf does in a situation that requires strong leadership skills.

wolf's name;; Contort wolf's age;; Four wolf's gender;; Male link to bio;; Herewhy do you want the position?;; Well, for one, Contort is not a low ranker at all and he'd just make life way more interesting for any pack that he runs. Just give him time for all his colors to show and it'll be a ride to remember. how active are you?;; Extremely active, except when I have to dog sit cuz they have no internet up there. tryout;;Contort These children learn from cigarette burns, fast cars, fast women, and cheap drinks. . . All these asphyxiated, self-medicated; take the white pill, you'll feel alright. . .
--------------------------------------------------------
They just wouldn’t shut up. Contort tired not to let his mind wonder as he listened to the frightened and fearful speeches going on around him. He’d sent out a patrol before dawn had even touched the skies. His paws itched to take him out after them. Sure, he wasn’t a huge warrior by any means, but he could fight if the need called for it. Shifting his weight from side to side, Contort rose in the most abrupt way. Many eyes turned on him, looks of shock and surprise crossing their faces as they looked at their leader. This wasn’t the way Con normally acted. Normally, he would have slowly risen and requested someone to follow him, but today he just wasn’t in the mood. First, he’d had a nightmare that involved another long lecture from his father and a cuffing on the ears. Second, he’d had to send out a patrol because something on the wind told him that there was trouble brewing out there. Now, now he had to deal with this bit of insanity. Sure, he had grown used to it, but still. There was no joy in playing around with those that where panicking about something as small as this.
A low growl echoed from his vocals and the others were quick to silence themselves. “Jev, Tasha!” Both wolves stood swiftly and came to stand before me. Jev was a black wolf, with white paws and white hair acrossed his chest where as Tasha was pure as snow. They were his best. “Come along. It’s time to discover what is holding up this patrol.” The words came out of his mouth on a long drawl of noise and trotted off at a quick clip. Those two were always good about staying close and constantly remembered he had a bad habit of going as fast as he could to get to where he wanted to be. These two knew how to keep up to someone like Contort. His paws thumped against the ground, hard, leaving a deep impression on the ground as he raced, head long toward the sound and scent of his patrol. He could hear his companions’ soft panting as they continued deeper and deeper into the lands. Jev stopped however, which stopped the rest of them. Contort turned his head and a low growl rose up from his throat. “What is it now?” Jev cowered away for a moment and then stood strong, causing a smirk to twitch at the corners of Con’s lips. “Sir, I smell blood. Fresh blood.”
Contort lifted his nose to the wind and drew in the same scent, except it wasn’t what it seemed Jev thought it was. “It’s deer blood. A sick deer, but deer none the less.” Jev’s ears twitched as if ashamed of himself. “Don’t punish yourself, Jev. You only did what came natural to you.” Jev nodded his head, as if accepting my praise, which was good for him. If he’d acted like Contort wasn’t being kind to him then they would have had a problem. Sure, it wasn’t often that Con was kind, but when he saw good work in a member of his pack he was quick to make sure that they knew he appreciated it. Once more the three wolves picked up their pace and moved through the trees, clearings and streams. So far, all that told them of the others were the snarls and the smell of blood. It all seemed so far away and Contort was worried about what might be going on and what things might be happening to the world around him. He didn’t like this whole not knowing thing. It was too much for him and well, he may have been a cold hearted bastard, but he did love his pack and they were his teammates in life.
His heart beat swift and fast in his chest as he thundered through this place that he’d come to call home. It wasn’t often that he raced with others and when he did all he wanted to do was go faster. However, Contort knew that it would be a fool’s move to go any faster than he was. He’d beat Jev and Tasha there and then that would just be trouble and huge amounts of it. Tasha was quick to be right on his heels while Jev was right on hers. This was how it should be, either two at a time or one behind the other. “Contort, we’re close. I can smell wolves. Our own and two trespassers.” Tasha’s voice rose above the wind that roared in his ears. Contort nodded his head and tossed the words over his shoulder, “We’ll deal with it when we see what’s going on.” There was no answer to his order, but he knew that the two just behind him at picked up speed as well. All of them wanted to get there as quick as they could and figure out what the whole situation was.
Breaking into a clearing, they came upon the wolves, quick as lightening. Contort took in the scene around him. All motion had stopped and it seemed these trespassers knew an alpha when they saw one. A grin spread acrossed his features as he walked into the center of the havoc that raged here. “What is the meaning of this?” Contort’s voice rang out, clear and sharp, but smooth as honey and warm milk. The trespassers tensed as they look at the multihued canine, not sure what to think of this creature. Well, Contort didn’t care. They were on his land and he wasn’t about to put up with that. “They trespassed and hunted on our lands.” Kovu, the patrol captain said his voice hostile towards those who dared to enter a place that he called home. Contort walked towards the silver-white one that had been backed into a corner. “Why did you do this?” He asked his voice soft as velvet, but it was clear that he wanted answer sooner rather than later. The white one, female by her scent was young and scared. “W-We’re starving. There is n-no food where we l-lived.” Her voice quivered and shook, causing Contort to think that she wasn’t lying and just her expression screamed fear.
Sitting before them, Contort bowed his head; thinking about what he could do that this moment. “We will take them as prisoners, but they are not to be harmed in anyway. Not until we find out exactly what is going on.” For a moment, Con had thought that his own wolves would have turned on him had he not added that last part. They would have been fools to do it seeing as Tasha was the only one not to get aggressive with him, but rather the others. Having her to back him only added to his pleasure of being in this place. She was the best fighter and fighting her even with a larger number meant death since she had Contort with her. He may have looked small-ish, but he could fight if that was what his life depended on. They all bowed their heads to his decision and followed him as he trotted back towards the den and the rest of the wolves. The prisoners lives depended on what they told Contort when they got back and he wasn’t about to let them forget it. Not now. Not ever.
Upon entering the camp, all eyes turned on them. Whispers rose until Jev told them to shut it. Contort hadn’t asked him too, but Jev seemed to know his leader well. A smirk touched Con’s lips and he turned a honey-amber eye on the female prisoner. Well, she’d probably give him more answers than the elderly male. With a twitch of his tail the female was ushered into his den. She lay down as soon as the guards went to stand at the entrance. Contort sauntered in looking like the king of the castle that he was. “So, where are you from?” The question was a close to a purr as a wolf could come and the female flicked her ears forward then back. “I’m a loner. So is Sham.” Her words were curt and quick to escape her lips. Contort chuckled softly and leaned forward slightly, “Oh. Well then, what’s your name?” He asked softly, coaxing information out of her. It was easy, oh so easy. “Chinook.” The word came out slowly, as if she thought she was giving away too much information.
“Well, Chinook. You two may stay, but know this. You will be watched and guarded. We will make sure you are not lying to me. Got it?” Her face filled with shock, as though she couldn’t believe his voice went from silky smooth to dagger sharp. She gulped and nodded before exiting his den with him quick on her heels. Contort stood at the den’s mouth before he spoke. “They are to be watched, but treated like any other pack member. No killing them, though I know some of you would like to.” Con smiled sweetly and some of them chuckled, but that was the end of this whole mess. What a day.
The multi-hued brute lay down, watching the dove white vixen mingle with the others. Somewhere cold and harsh, but others were willing to accept her in some way. Sham on the other hand was no looked at as a good addition to this pack. He was an elderly wolf. His dark coat showing the grays and whites of old age clearly. It dawned on Contort to wonder at their ages. Well, obviously Chinook was young, probably just barely out of her puppyhood. While Sham looked like he was close to knocking on Death’s door. Con rose without giving much thought as to what he was doing and wondered over to the older wolf. His paws nearly brought him nose to nose with the brute. Well, it seemed Sham had spunk. The wolf had gone from lying down on the ground to poised and snarling as soon as Contort came within range. An invisible brow rose and a smile turned up the corners of the Alpha’s lips. “Well. Aren’t you just a feisty one?” The older wolf let out a chuckle before lying back on the ground. “Yes. I am. I don’t put up with youngsters like you think they run the world.” Contort’s ears pinned back and he growled, hackles rising.
All heads turned and Contort realized it was time to either take this wolf out or keep his mouth shut. He chose the later of the two. It just seemed best to grin, shake his head and walk away. That was the end of his good mood for the most part and well, that was okay. It never lasted long and when it did, it just never did him any good. Turning away, he moved back into the swell of the back socializing and getting reports on what he’d been missing over the day. So far, nothing interesting had happened, but his attention kept getting called back to that old wolf and how all he did was sit there and watch the goings on in the pack. Con bristled at the idea, but he saw a wisdom in this wolf that he had not seen in others, maybe it was time to learn from someone other than himself. So, there relationship started there. Late at night, when Contort couldn’t sleep, he’d wonder off and visit with Sham. Learning all he could and when that wolf passed. Contort hurt; be he learned from those lessons. “Sham, he was. . . inspiring.” He grinned as he recalled that fateful, yet insightful day. He wouldn’t long forget it and all the things that he was taught. Even if the old wolf managed to anger him more often than he managed to please him, Sham was not one for sucking up to another and that was probably why Contort liked him so much. That was defiantly why.

wolf's name;; Ismael wolf's age;; Three years wolf's gender;; Male link to bio;; Link why do you want the position?;; I saw the ad on rpgc and was inspired to create Ismael. how active are you?;; I'm on almost everyday and I'm pretty good at getting replies done too. But I've been really sick lately so for the next couple of days... yeah.. xD
tryout;;
Ismael,, I am sometimes a fox and sometimes a lion. The whole secret of government lies in knowing when to be the one or the other. _____
i. In the vast thickness of the trees, time had almost been lost and it seemed nearly indeterminable exactly when things had started to be disturbed along the cool floor of the forest. The sun was mostly hidden by the tangled web of extended branches and the clusters of leaves that covered them had turned lime green as the sunlight shot through them to mottle the ground with a confusing array of bright spots and dark, contrasting shadows. Anyone less familiar to the thick undergrowth of the rocky forest and unaccustomed to the wild light shows that played over the earth might have been tricked into letting their time slip away from them. Although the forest was, for the most part, well lit, the sun could seldom be seen directly even though it had already climbed high into the sky; it was nearly noon now.
ii. The three-wolf patrol had still not returned from their morning run. As the fact settled into the young wolf’s mind, Ismael felt a sharp pang of irritation in his chest. Moving at an angle over the slanted slope where the land dipped down and a shallow creek cut across the land, he paused for a brief moment at the creek bank to crouch down and lap absently at the water. And while his pink tongue curled to lick at the little droplets of water that clung to his whiskers when he lifted his head again Ismael could feel an unsettling nervousness begin to creep into his heart. He swallowed hard. One wolf in that patrol had been a recent addition to the pack - one Ismael was already beginning to regret. He was a spindly, bold-natured narcissists who called himself Kal. Although the wolf was clever, he was one of the few wolves in Ismael’s pack who very few wolves trusted. At first, Ismael had been charmed by his good natured carelessness and his lovely use of poetic language to convey himself to others. But he was open and reckless with everyone and Ismael had come to hate him for his need to flatter anyone who held authority over him. Especially his alpha. But as far as Ismael was concerned; anyone who could flatter could just as easily slander.
Ismael!
iii. He blinked, stiffening in momentary surprise as the reedy voice and the sounds of clumsy footfalls over the dead leaves reached his ears and pulled him from his plotting. Recalling at one the situation at hand, Ismael lifted himself up as another familiar form slowed to an easy trot as the wolf’s head ducked down submissively. He recognized the long legged yearling at once as the polite youngster who had expressed concerns that same morning over the safety of his half brother who had also left on the patrol. Peering expectantly at him, Ismael watched the younger wolf as he approached. His brown nose bobbed upward as he approached Ismael and in a quiet voice he said, "It‘s just like you said, Ismael. We caught wind of them just north of here - by the big stone.“
iv. It took only a moment of consideration before Ismael had conveyed a silent command to stay put and was turning to leave. He paused only for a moment to glance back over his shoulder as the wolf behind him muttered lowly, "Take care, Ismael. It didn't smell like they were alone.." he seemed to trail off before snorting and turning on his heels to sprint off toward the rest of the pack. Ismael watched him go, feeling a newly found sort of urgency well up inside of him before a turned back around to set off at a light-footed trot.
v. His pace was swift and as he padded silently over the rocky northern slope of his territory, Ismael listened hard for any signs of his comrades. He was a wolf who demanded order and his obsession with control was making his pulse race. He could hear the blood drumming in his ears and as his thoughts turned to Kel, Ismael swore under his breath. There was nothing more infuriating to him than anything unpredictable and nothing worse than a wolf who could not be accounted for. The more he thought about it, the more he wished he had refused Kel’s offering to lead the morning patrol. The wolf was loyal and wicked smart but to Ismael he was a wild card. The run had been to test him, to allow Ismael to get a feel for what he might do when given the opportunity to run loose. He hadn’t expected anything to happen that might have delayed them. If he had, he would have gone himself.
vi. It took only a few moments to close the distance between himself and the northern most boundaries of the pack lands and almost immediately he inhaled the musty scent of a young doe’s blood. A few metres later and he picked up two unfamiliar scents along with the three pack member’s and after a short while, Ismael paused to find himself staring at a strange scene where signs of a struggle marked the ground. A dead log had been split open, kicked probably and in front of it the leaves an dirt had been displaced and thrown about. Marring the soft black soil were several sets of claw marks - a short lived scuffed between on of the strangers and Kel, no doubt. Ismael felt this chest swell with anger and the hairs on the back of his neck had begun to stand up before his yellow eyes flicked upward and his ears tilted toward the distinct ringing of an unfamiliar voice as it yelped in the distance.
vii Although Ismael was made nervous by the lack of control he had over the situation, he was not a wolf to be intimidated especially in a place he felt he was the master of. Without hesitation or thought his body was suddenly in motion again and he sprinted up over the hill. He crested the hill overlooking the scene below at made his presence known at once as he charged down the hill toward the five wolves below.
viii. "Kel!" his tenor voice didn’t rely any of the frustration or anticipation he was feeling. But it was bold and clear in the still air of the forest; enough to demand attention in spite of the casual sound of it. "What is this?" He was padding through the middle of the all of them now, approaching Kel as the wolf watched him with an unreadable expression. To the left, the invaders were on their sides underneath the two wolves Ismael had sent along with Kel. Izek, an older brute who made up for his simple mind and ugly face with his size and fiery nature, stood over a dark female who had been cut along the bridge of her nose. And on Ismael’s right, the brown wolf’s brother, Yindel had pinned down a runty male. Ismael had turned his pale gaze over the scene for a moment before whipping his head back around to stare hard at Kel, who still had yet to speak up.
ix. "Intruders, sir," he began finally. "Thieves as well, they've hunted on your lands, Ismael. Frankly I assumed you didn't need to be burdened with such trash. You shouldn't have come." His voice was smooth and Ismael couldn’t decide on his motives. But regardless of what Kel was up to, he had other things to attend to now thanks to the skinny wolf’s poor judgement. It was true that Ismael was somewhat of a brute when it came to matters of punishment and dictating his lands. But something about the idea of two lone wolves attacking a grown doe on their own struck a familiar fondness in him and when he finally turned to eye the young male, he cast a commanding glare over Yindel. "Stand aside please, thank you." While Yindel moved away and the male rolled over to glance nervously up at him, Ismael gave him a condescending leer. "Did you kill it?" The wolf blinked and frowned before muttering firmly, "Yes." Already, Ismael’s brain was beginning to churn delightfully and he chuckled quietly to himself in egotistical mirth before twisting his neck around so that he could gaze curiously over at the female. ”Are you hurt?”
"N-no." she stammered and refused to make eye contact. But as he looked on Ismael could begin to see the utility in such a broad shouldered girl. As she stood her left leg showcased some obvious bruising but it was quickly overlooked as Ismael turned back toward the young male with a bright smile on his face. His intentions were as clear as morning air to his three fellows who had all seen that look on his face before. At his side, Kel brushed his nose against the alpha’s shoulder breaking his concentration for a moment as he listened to the younger wolf speak. "They killed on our lands, sir!" The tone of voice made Ismael set his teeth as his smile faded and with look of distaste present on his expressive face, he growled lowly at his subordinate. x. "Then perhaps you should move more quickly next time you lead a patrol. Had it not been for you, I wouldn’t have had to suffer the humiliation of finding strangers on my land who are more competent than my own pack." Neither of them said anything more to each other and Ismael stepped toward Izek, who sat looking at him with an obvious sense of admiration. A strange smile played over the wolf’s crooked jaw, showing two small front teeth that glistened in the sunlight. We'll take these two, Izek. They will eat with us today and I'll speak with them over this kill they've made. he spoke with deliberate loudness so that the two interlopers could hear him clearly as they got to their feet behind him.
xi. Quickly, the wolves began their trip back to the inner pack lands with Ismael leading the way. Occasionally he would glance back at the young male who walked with an unusual boldness. He was a dark, runty fellow but Ismael could see something useful in him. Already, he had fallen madly in love with the stranger and though he wasn’t sure of their reasons for trespassing, he had made up his mind in advance. This male was young with good legs and gentle, trusting eyes. Ismael perceived his character to be built out of a warrior’s heart that had been misplaced into a bad breeding stock. Unfortunate, perhaps, but not something that Ismael felt depreciated his value at all.
xii. It wasn’t long before the male’s deep voice blessed Ismael’s ears again. "Hey!" Both of them stopped. "Wo’s yeh name, broot’er?" His foreign accent delighted Ismael and the monotone alpha turned his body sideways to flash an affectionate smile at the younger male.
"Call me Ismael."

Sorry for the delay in my decision. Something serious came up and I've been basically unavailable for the last two days. I will continue to to be unavailable for the most part, so if you have any questions concerning my decision, please PM them to me and I will get back to them as soon as possible.
After consideration, Mutt and I have chosen Ismael as the new alpha of Crandell pack. Thank you both of you for showing interest in and trying out for the position. We wish we had more than one position to award you; both of you submitted excellent tryouts.
Ismael, if you would please do the following things, it would be helpful:• Create your pack info threads in the pack board. There are no specific things you have to make except a list of the wolves in your pack and their ranks, so that the admins may somehow keep track of who is in the pack.
• write a description for the pack section in the welcome table. It is relatively short and you can look at the other three for examples. PM it to me when you are done.
• This isn't so much of a requirement - but there are several wolves left over from the first alpha's time there. Eventually you'll have to decide how to deal with them and whether or not you want them to re-join.
