The Top Rung Alpha Male: The leader of the pack. He has authority over all of the other ranks. Alpha Female: The mate of the leader. She ranks above all but the alpha male, whom she is generally considered the equal of, though he has the finaly authority.
Heirs: These are the sons and daughters of the Alphas. They may or may not inherit leadership of the pack.
Beta: The second in command and adviser to the alphas. There can be up to two of these at once, with any combination of genders.
Delta: There are two Delta, either male or female. They are in command of the two main sections of the pack: the warriors and the body. One Delta is in command of the warriors and the other is in command of the body.
The Warriors
Lead Sentry: This is a single sentry that does not rank above the other sentries but is generally the leader and organizer of them. Sentries: These wolves patrol the territory on a regular basis.
Lead Scout: The lead scout does not rank above the other scouts but is generally the leader and organizer of them. Scouts: Scouts serve as both as a type of warrior and as messengers. If the pack is invading, scouts will be sent ahead to judge the territory. They are good at hiding and moving without being found, even through dangerous or crowded territory. They may occasionally be used as spies.
Commanders: There are two commanders, both of which are jointly on command of the warriors.
Warriors: Basically, warriors are the fighters of the pack.
The Body
Lead Hunter: This wolf does not rank higher than regular hunters, but is generally in charge of organizing hunts and such. Hunters: These are the wolves that feed the pack. Other wolves from other ranks may join in hunts, of course.
Pup Sitters: These wolves (generally two at the most) babysit any pups that the pack currently has. If there are no pups, they will be expected to act as hunters.
Healers: These are wolves that know how to care for sick and injured wolves. Usually there is an apprentice or two learning the art of the healers.
Elders: The oldest wolves of the pack. These wolves are generally retired. Occasionally a younger wolf will join their ranks if it is somehow disabled.
The Lower Rungs Subordinates: Wolves without a rank.
Pups: Offspring of the pack.
Apprentices: Wolves in training to fill a certain rank. They are generally about 6 months old.
Omega: Prisoners, rule breakers, etc. go in this rank.
