She was keeping up with him easily now, her sides heaving and tongue lolling as she fought to regain the oxygen she was rapidly loosing from running. Her multi-hued, bushy fur was rippling against her sides in the wind, ears flicking forward, toward the male, trying to pick up on any noises from him, and then backward, trying to keep away from the annoying wind, which was whistling it's way into her ears. Her paws hit the ground in rapid successions, maintaing an even pace as she followed the male at his flank. Her throat was still burning was thirst, and she really hoped they reached the water soon, but for some reason Eclipse suspected that they might run into a little complication before she reached the liquid she so avidly lusted. Her golden eyes flicked to the back of the male's frame, and she kept them glued there, wary of what he might suddenly do. She wasn't afraid of tripping over anything on the ground, her species had a sure-footed nature, and she was confident with herself.
She was slightly taken aback when Malady swiftly and somewhat unexpectedly swung his body around, stopping dead in his tracks and facing her angrily. She wasn't completely caught off-guard, however, Eclipse never let her guard fully fall, and exactly for this reason. Wolves were unpredictable creatures, and were it not for her cautious nature, and her wary observing, Eclipse probably wouldn't have been able to stop herself before she crashed into him. As it were, Eclipse swiftly noted the brute's change in pace as soon as he began his swift turn, and she scrambled to slow her pace, digging her hind legs against the ground and steadying herself with her front ones. Her fur was ruffled now, slightly dishevelled from the abrupt slowing, and slightly raised out of annoyance at the male. She managed to stop herself just short of the male, her muzzle a mere few inches away from his own.
She was disgusted to be this close, to see the brute's golden eyes so clearly, staring at her with annoyance and anger. She could feel his breath on her face, and she instinctively backed up, not out of cowardliness from the male's anger, but simply because she didn't like the unnatural proximity. She took in the male's posture, he didn't seem to be concentrating so much on the annoying display of dominance anymore, but instead he appeared to be angry, very angry. Had she maybe pressed a nerve with her previous question? She cocked an eyebrow questioningly, although the rest of her posture had tensed, put on edge by the sudden change in the male's attitude. Should she be preparing herself for an attack? She assessed his stance quickly, and decided no, not yet. Maybe soon, but not yet. He looked as though he had something to say first.
Her hackles rose slightly, her tail still positioned high in the air behind her. Her ears were positioned straight and directly at the male before her, so she easily picked up on his loud, and angry words. As he addressed her with another pet name, the title smeared in disgust, Eclipse couldn't help but allow another low rumble to form in her throat, lips twitching back as she fought to control the snarl which wanted to erupt upon her muzzle. Her sides quivered, muscles tensing a fraction more as the male finished his sentence. She didn't have any idea, she guessed, but did she really care about that? Not the slightest bit. Anything the male had done was in the past, and meant nothing anymore. Therefore, he still really had no right to be carrying himself in such a way. She shook her head, annoyance building rapidly. She didn't even care about any of that, really. He was truly taunting her now, egging her on, and it was working.
Eclipse was not fond of this sort of tormenting, and she could feel herself caving, her adrenaline starting to rise. She stepped toward him, the hackles at her nape completely raised, and her face set in a hard, slightly angered expression. She stopped when her muzzle was just about pressed against his, her golden eyes hard and slightly narrowed. "I don't care who you are, or what you've been through," She growled, her voice dangerously close to a snarl. She was clearly annoyed with the male now, and her thirst had been completely forgotten yet again. "And don't ever address me like that, again." There was a somewhat false ring in these words, although her tone was still hard and rugged. Eclipse truly didn't give a shit about how the male addressed her, but she wanted to have some sort of reason to be getting so angry. Fighting was like a sport to Eclipse, and if she felt that sort of tension in the air, there was no way she was ignoring it.

| [atrb=background,http://i970.photobucket.com/albums/ae183/sigathkerr/Tables/maladytableforanyumid.png] this is the scent of dead skin on a linoleum floor this is the scent of quarantine wings in a hospital
The closeness of their muzzles when he first turned around meant nothing to him. He did not move or flinch away. It didn’t seem to bother him at all; as if their muzzles weren’t close to touching at all. There was, however, an urge to suddenly bare his teeth and lunge at her. It would have been so easy to do that there and then, but he needed to wait. There would be a time to attack if it were meant to be. And he did not intend to be the one to make the first move. With that in mind, he kept his eye open for an attack from her, wondering if he had pushed her far enough to elicit such a response yet. It seemed not, but he watched anyways. It wouldn’t be any fun if she actually managed to surprise him.
Her “superior” posture did not bother him. After all, his own posture had just been an act, though he usually did carry his head a little more proudly than was acceptable for a loner. Did he care? Not particularly. Of course, his anger was also an act, one that she seemed to be falling for. Did she feel threatened by his angry stance and words? If so, was she planning an attack? If she was anything like him, then she was certainly preparing for some sort of attack, whether it be from him or directed at him. That thought alone was what kept him constantly monitoring her movements, alert and ready for anything that she might throw at him. The close proximity made him wary. An attack at this distance would have been hard to dodge, though not impossible. Still, the risk was more than he wanted to take at the moment. He needed to find a way to get further away from her. And perhaps he could push a few more buttons in the process.
Malady refused to move away as she moved close again. He couldn’t tell if she were acting or serious now, but that didn’t matter, What did matter was that he was sure he was still pressing those buttons, egging her on and turning this random meeting into something more. He smiled at her; a cruel, sarcastic, almost sick smile. “I’m glad we’re on the same page, then,” he said, responding to her statement about not caring about who he was and whatnot. He hadn’t expected her to care; he had simply stated that she knew nothing of him. In fact, he did not remember implying that she ought to care, and he said as much to her. “I don’t remember asking you to care about me at all. I would rather you not, in fact. I was simply pointing out your lack of knowledge about me.” His smile never vanished, though all signs of aggression had as soon as she had finished speaking. It was as if he had never been angry in the first place.
Before he addressed her second statement, he turned and headed to the lake once more. It was close, and the ground was more open there. He preferred it to this setting. Setting off at a trot, he had moved several feet away when he turned again to look at her once more. “And, as you are a loner just as I am, you cannot tell me how to address you. You have no authority over me, as I have none over you.” He gave her a new smile, one that was clearly defiant and sarcastic at the same time. He was basically telling her that he would address her however he felt like addressing her, and there was nothing she could do to stop him short of killing him. He had yet to return to his original posture of high tail and head. Instead he had returned to normal, his tail at normal height and his head just slightly higher than it should have been. “Now, you can either let me take you to water, as you asked me to, or we can stay here and continue to talk. Or I can leave. Or, if you really feel the need, you can attack me. Whichever option you choose, I could care less. But if you don’t choose, then I shall make a decision.”
it's not so pleasant and it's not so conventional it sure as hell ain't normal, but we deal, we deal

Her fur was bristled slightly, golden eyes trained intently on the male's dark features. This male seemed like a tricky sort, prone to sudden outbursts or mood swings. Eclipse wasn't exactly accustomed to such behaviour from other wolves, and her nerves were put on edge. Who knew, maybe he would suddenly go into a murderous rampage and try to rip her throat apart. She held her position, however, keeping her muzzle mere centimetres from the male's own. Her golden eyes had narrowed slightly, the flesh on her muzzle wrinkled up in distaste somewhat. She was clearly annoyed, this male had indeed succeeded in pushing her buttons, and now he was the one who was angry? Why the hell should he be the angry one? Her tail was still positioned high in the air, her shoulders squared as she continued to gaze at the brute with a mixture of emotions played across her face.
Ears flicked toward the male as she heard his clear retort at her abrupt, slightly inconsiderate choice of phrase. A brow quirked slightly, her annoyance only growing more and more intense as the seconds went on and the dark coloured wolf continued speaking. Eclipse's mood would have darkened incredibly at his set of words had her annoyance not been countered by a sudden wave of confusion. The male's words were clear enough, and he had certainly got his message across, and it had ticked Eclipse off a good deal, and it probably would have been enough to set her off, had it not been for his smile. He was smiling? Eclipse was taken aback, completely thrown off by the sudden change of expression. Was there maybe something wrong with this wolf? She eyed him warily, skeptical of the sudden mood change. It was like he hadn't been angry in the first place. "What the fuck..." She muttered, the words hardly audible to anyone but herself. She was completely caught off guard by the mood swing, and she had no idea how to respond to it.
She was surprised again as the male turned his back on her, setting off at an easy trot in the direction they had been traveling moments before. She shook her head, not understanding the brute's motives. Her fur had settled again, posture relaxing as he moved away from her. It would have been a perfect opportunity for the female to lunge at him, but she didn't. She was far too confused by the male's abrupt mood swings to understand what to do. She'd concluded it in her own head; this wolf was crazy. A nut. Maybe he was bi-polar, maybe he just had anger issues which he was working on. She shook her head again, bewildered. Her gaze remained fixed on the shaggy, dark coloured wolf as he moved ahead, but she remained fixed to the spot, unsure of where to go from here. Her ears perked forward again as she noted the male's head turning to look back at her, as he decided to address the rest of her words.
She snorted at the words leaving his mouth, a smug look falling over her features. She sure as hell could have authority over him, and maybe she would have if their little debate had developed further. She was quite confident in herself and the fact that she could have whooped his ass in a fight, not that she spoke this out loud. Her attention was once again brought back to the male as he called out to her again, his body moving farther and farther away from her every second. Despite the distance now between the two wolves, Malady's words reached her clearly. Her left her with a lot of options there. She snorted again, unsure of which to pick. Now that he'd brought it up again, Eclipse could feel the dry, itching sensation growing at the back of her throat, tickling it in the most unpleasant way. She gazed after him skeptically for a few seconds, before finally moving herself forward. He hadn't picked up his annoying dominance display again yet, so who knew, maybe he'd give it up now, and he wouldn't be so bad.
She exhaled rather loudly, a sound which snuffed the sarcastic laughter which wanted to expel from her lungs. She couldn't picture this male being 'not bad'. Despite this thought, Eclipse continued moving herself forward, catching up with the brute easily this time. "I suppose I could still use that drink," She muttered as she closed in on him again, her golden eyes shifting to his frame beside her skeptically. She was still unsure of his motives, but he didn't seem tense enough to be plotting an attack of any sort. "So water, I guess..." She hesitated briefly, a small smirk gracing her muzzle. She cocked an eyebrow questioningly, still peering at him through her peripheral vision. "That is, unless you'd like me to attack you? I wouldn't refuse." The question was asked in a casual manner, not a serious tone in her voice, although she knew that she really wouldn't refuse if it came to that. She had brushed off the male's previous annoying displays, and was allowing herself to loosen up slightly, although keeping a cautious eye on him at all times. He seemed unpredictable at times; in accordance with his mood, anyway. Maybe he could prove to be interesting, or maybe not. Eclipse was slightly intrigued by the abrupt changes in the brute, as well as annoyed. You just couldn't have one without the other.
notes; holy crap, terrriblleeee. i'm sorry. my muse for eclipse has been like, kaput, for ages x.x
